Loblaw Announces New National Headquarters In Brampton
BRAMPTON—Loblaw Companies Ltd. is relocating its national headquarters to Brampton in a prestige 400,000 square foot office to be located in a new 500-acre business park owned by Orlando Corporation.
“The City of Brampton welcomes Loblaw Canada’s head office to Brampton, adding 1,700 office jobs to our employment base,” said Mayor Susan Fennell.
The head office will open in the fall of 2004 in Orlando’s Churchill Business Community at Mississauga Road and Highway 407. Most of Loblaw’s administrative functions now housed in different buildings will be under one roof when the move takes place.
Phil King, Senior Vice-President of Development with the Orlando Corporation, said the Loblaw’s move is a good news story for Brampton.
“Bringing Loblaw’s head office to Brampton is great for the City and is a cornerstone project to initiate the development of Orlando’s new Churchill Business Community,” King said. “We can foresee a strong and positive working relationship with Orlando, Loblaw and the City of Brampton.”
The Loblaw group of companies includes Loblaws Supermarkets, No Frills and Valumart, Zehrs Markets, Fortinos,Your Independent Grocer, Provigo, Atlantic Superstores and The Real Canadian Superstore in Western Canada. Loblaw Companies Ltd. employs 119,000 employees nationwide.
“The addition of Loblaw’s new head office will make Loblaw Companies the second largest employer in Brampton, adding to the City’s already-thriving business growth,” Mayor Fennell said. “In Brampton, new business grew by 18 per cent in 2001 over the previous year, creating 221 new businesses and resulting in 4,500 new jobs.” Source City of Brampton
